About
After doing medicine in TCD, and the Adelaide hospital, I trained in Paediatrics in Dublin. After my membership I did an MSc in Epidemiology at the London School, and then moved to Leeds, where I worked in a joint academic post at the university, and a training post in Public Health at the DHA, with Martin Schweiger as my trainer. I did a PhD there on the spatial epidemiology of childhood IDDM and ALL.
My next job was at the SAHSU unit at Imperial with Paul Elliott, working in environmental and spatial epidemiology. I then moved to Dublin, to UCD, where I worked in the Department (later School) of Public Health, for 10 years until 2007. While there I worked on many different topics, but a lot of my work has on health care policy issues, or on health information systems.
I moved over to DCU in August 2007, and I'm now well settled in. I'm continuing to work on health policy-relevant issues, for example, resource allocation in primary care, health information systems, traveller health, and chidl health research policy.
