About
Dr. Elaine Dewhurst is a First Class Honours BCL graduate from University College Cork who successfully defended her PhD thesis in March 2009 on "The Obstacles Faced by Migrant Workers to Achieving Equality with Irish Nationals in Employment in Ireland". In 2004, she was awarded the EJ Phelan Fellowship in International Law by the National University of Ireland. From 2006 - 2007, she worked in the Law School, Law Society of Ireland. From 2007- 2009 she worked in the position of Parliamentary and Law Reform Executive in the Law Society of Ireland. She is currently a lecturer in law at Dublin City University. Elaine will undertake a research fellowship at the MaxNetAging Research School at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, Rostock, Germany from Jan - June 2012 and at the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Policy, Munich, Germany from June 2012 - Jan 2014.
Elaine has been appointed as a legal adviser to the Mexican Embassy, Dublin, a Reviewer of the Marmara Journal of European Studies, an Executive Board Member and Company Director of the Irish Council for Civil Liberties, a HETAC Expert Panellist and a Member of the Human Rights Committee of the Law Society of Ireland.
Elaine is a member of the Irish Association of Law Teachers, the Irish Society of International Law, the Society of Legal Scholars, the Human Rights Education Association, the Global Alliance of Justice Through Education, the Rule of Law Project and the European Sociological Association.
